Chuunibyou; another cool Japanese slang

I’m attached with this word since I watch Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! anime. This word sounds cool, just like the person who has this syndrome.

Thanks to the anime, I used some of my energy to do a little research on this word. From the pixiv encyclopedia, ‘Chuunibyou’ is a Japanese term, also known as ‘8th graders illness/Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome’ where the person acts like a know-it-all adult or believe they possess special powers like no one else. In other word, we called it delusional.

It is said that the origin of this word came from Hikaru Ijuin, on November 1999. There are 3 types of chuunibyou;

1. DQN : Pretend to be anti-social or delinquent but in fact, he/she is not.
2. Subculture : Prefer non-mainstream or minor trends in order to be cool or different from other people.
3. Evil-eye : Admires mystical powers and pretend to have on of their own.

To understand better on this chuunibyou, you can watch the anime that I mentioned above.

In the anime, the female character, Takanishi Rikka believes she has demon eye power, that’s why she always wear an eye-patch to cover her right eye like this:

Hora, kakkoii deshou? But she’s not alone. Her servant, Dekomori is willing to do anything for her.

Well, maybe I just love this anime and I had nothing to do, that’s why I ended up googling chuunibyou. Gotta include it in my dictionary.
