AKB48 vs ARASHI???

Recently, there are few articles and views on AKB48 latest single, Beginner which have sold more than 560 000 copies on its first day. For me, it is good news and of course, i am proud of them.

As we know, this single got so much attention from the public because the original pv have been censored due to the violence in the pv.
After it is released, many people start to compare this group with another main group in Japan, ARASHI. Arashi, who have been in Japan Music Industry for years is a big group and their achievement is deniable.
When i read these comments and articles, i feel uneasy because i think comparing them is unnecessary.
Why?
Frankly, i am not Arashi fans, but i like their song. i always keep updating their news and latest single. i think they are one of the best boyband in Japan because they can maintain their popularity after 10 years. I have to admit that they are very talented as an idol group, not just they can dance but also sing for live show. Yet, they can be a good MC for TV show and great actor as well.
AKB48 in other hand, is a large-female idol group, consists 48 members or more than that. Debut in 2005, they become madly famous in this year, 2010 and it is proven by their latest single, Beginner. But, i know people will say that they cannot sing well and not talented and bla bla bla. I admit it but it is not like they aren’t talented or cannot sing well. They can sing, for sure. Much more better than me and that’s why they can be a singer. Talented. Yes, they are. They have their own talent that others aren’t.
So, why i think it is unnecessary to compare AKB and Arashi.
Both of them are good in their own way. Why should we compare them when they helped set new record for Oricon sale? I think, as a Jpop fans, we should be thank to them because they have bring a good scene in Japan industry. And not only them, other artists also.
I’m not sure if Arashi think AKB as their rival or not but for me Arashi have their own level, same goes to AKB. When AKB managed to sell half a million copies in a day, i am happy for them. Why? Because i’ve never seen that amount of sale since i become Jpop fans. i’m sure the people who are involved in Japan music industry will feel the same way as me because it’s a been a while since the last time made by Utada Hikaru and Morning Musume.
And Arashi, they are able to sell more than 500 ooo copies in every single they released. So, why should we compare them?
I think, whatever it is, Arashi is still the best boyband in Japan.
And AKB48, they are the best female idol group in Japan after Momusu. I cannot compare AKB with Momusu too because Momusu in a legend and AKB is the next generation. All of them have made their own history in Jpop industry.
So, instead of comparing them, why don’t we support them to success in the industry and pray for other singer to success like them too.

  1. Just commenting again on your blog lol

As someone who is a major Arashi fan as well as an AKB fan, I think it’s mainly just fans and media comparing them.

AKB and Arashi are the top selling artists in Japan right now, and that isn’t going to stop anytime soon. People in Japan love Arashi, and many see them as their generation’s SMAP (which should be enough to tell anyone, that they are going to be popular till…forever lol) and the same for AKB (they are this generation’s version of Momosu).

Like I said, I think it’s just fans and media who are worried about their favorites being overthrown that are comparing them 🙂

  2. I’ve just read this article but…

    Can I hug you? xD
I’m a big Arashi fan and I like AKB48, I can’t understand why a lot of fans(arashians and akb48 fans) try to compare them or hate the other one(99% of the time without having listened to their songs). We can love both! I won’t hate AKB just because they are selling xxxx singles more than Arashi.
I don’t see the reason why fans are so worried about their favourite band sellings or popularity! Just.. “listen to the music and enjoy it!”

(btw, in someway, AKB and Arashi have some common points. They both have songs who helps you to carry on day by day even in the hardest times. That’s the kinf of songs that I love. And Beginner is one of them).

    So… again… thank you! xDD
